How does the sponsorship program work?
The Agape child sponsorship program is intended to be a blessing both to the boy and the sponsor.  By linking a sponsor with a specific boy, it will enable the sponsor to learn about that boy, pray for him, and correspond with him.  A sponsor may provide “regular sponsorship,” which is $75 per month, and covers most of the costs of care for one boy (food, clothing, medical care, education or vocational training, books, uniforms, etc.). Or a sponsor may elect to provide “school sponsorship,” which is $40 per month, and covers the cost of a boy’s schooling (or vocational training), books, and uniforms.

What are a sponsor’s responsibilities?
Your role as a sponsor is important to the boy and to the ministry.  Because our primary concern is the welfare of the boy, we ask that, as a sponsor, you agree to:
·   Pray for your boy regularly and consistently.  He has often been abused, abandoned, beaten, and rejected.  He has great physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.  The true healing he needs can only come through Christ’s forgiveness, power, and love.
·   Send either “regular sponsorship” or “school sponsorship” to Agape’s home office.  You will be sent tax-deductible receipts for your monthly sponsorship contributions.  We hope you will commit to sponsor your boy through his stay at Agape, however, we recognize that circumstances change and may not permit this.  If at any time you feel you must discontinue your sponsorship, please notify us immediately so we can seek another sponsor for your child.
·   Recognize that we are dealing with rescued street children.  Your boy may not always correspond with you as you would like.  We will encourage him to write, and we will assist him in communicating with you by writing on his behalf if he is unable to read or write.
·   Follow the guidelines Agape has established for communicating with your boy.  When you apply to sponsor a boy, we will send a packet introducing your boy along with complete written communication guidelines and communication forms for you and your boy to use.  We ask that all correspondence be sent only through our office.

What are Agape’s responsibilities?
As a sponsor, you are ministering to the child while Agape is the means by which that ministry takes place.  Within the sponsorship program, Agape’s responsibilities are to:
·   Assign a boy to the sponsor and provide pictures and biographical information.
·   Provide the sponsor with periodic updates relating how the boy is doing, prayer requests on his behalf, special events he is participating in, his progress, special accomplishments, etc.
·   Facilitate communication between the sponsor and the boy by encouraging and assisting the boy in writing to the sponsor, by providing translation where needed, and by mailing correspondence from the boy to the sponsor.
·   Deal openly and honestly with each sponsor and be good stewards of the funds the sponsor provides.
·   Keep sponsors updated concerning Agape’s ministry.

How to get started
If you would like to sponsor an Agape boy, please complete and mail the attached form to our U.S. office.  We will assign a boy to you and send you an introductory kit as quickly as possible.

If you have any questions or if you would like any information about sponsoring one of our teachers or house parents, or about Agape’s ministry to street children, please call us toll free at 888.57.AGAPE.

Thank you for considering becoming a sponsor.  Our prayer is that your sponsorship will bless and encourage one of our boys and help him know someone on the other side of the world loves him and cares about him.  We also pray that sponsoring a boy will bring great joy and blessing to you.  Your heart of compassion and caring is a special gift from the Lord.
