Plans for the Future Print E-mail
Two important factors dominate the shape of Agape's future. First is the desire, indeed, the obligation to address the needs of as many of the children remaining on the streets as possible. Second, as effective as it is, the Agape model of ministry to children is a work in progress and must be further developed and completed in order to provide the basis for successful duplication elsewhere in the world.
As resources become available, Agape's goal over the course of the next three to five years is to dramatically increase the number of children being helped. It is hoped that the total number of boys staying at Agape facilities can grow from the current level of just over 100 to more than 300. Beyond that, outreach programs are planned that are intended to assist virtually all of the other children remaining on the streets of Kisumu. Finally, when the model of ministry is sufficiently completed to make it possible, Agape hopes to duplicate its successful Kisumu prototype in other cities and countries, either directly or in partnership with other organizations.

To accomplish these things, Agape's present facilities and operations must be significantly expanded. That expansion will require substantial outside resources to fund:
  1. Acquisition of additional land;
  2. Construction of new dorms and other facilities;
  3. Significant increases in staffing;
  4. Acquisition of necessary furniture and equipment; and
  5. Increased operating costs for a three-fold growth in ministry.
